Abstract
We present the case of a 25-day-old infant with malignant pertussis, who was admitted to the hospital with a presump¬tive diagnosis of bronchiolitis. She presented several complica¬tions, such as secondary pneumonia, encephalopathy and pulmonary hypertension, despite which the outcome was favorable. This case is interesting because of the atypical clin¬ical presentation of pertussis in an infant of less than 6 months of age, as well as its severity.
